ARTISANS’ presents for the first time in Mumbai, DAYANITA SINGH'S BOX WORKS
In Conversation: Dayanita Singh with Dr. Beth Citron, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Asian and Asian Diaspora Art, Asia Society Museum
Studio Box, the sixth publication of Spontaneous Books, is an unbound book of 30 image cards held together in a wooden structure, meant to be hung on a wall or placed as an object on a table, The structure allows the collector to change the front image as often as they like. Each box gives you thirty options; two different boxes give you 900 options, and so on. The image cards, exist as a set of 30 and are not meant to be separated from each other or the box. Once you acquire the next box that she publishes, you become the curator of Singh’s work, as you build your own conversations between the boxes.
Studio Box is available only in its exhibition format. A set of 31 Studio Boxes are available in their prescribed exhibition format, at ARTISANS’.
